Giving Thought to Being Registered Dental Assistant
There is so much confusion regarding whether or not you have to be a registered dental assistant in order to have a job that pays great. Does it really pay to purchase a membership to the ADAA? The American Dental Assistants Association is an organization that is designed to help the certified dental assistant and the dental assistant student find information and get insurance while they are members. When they talk about registering, it is about signing up for a membership with the ADAA.
The American Dental Assistants Association, otherwise know as the ADAA, has been around for over eighty years and is a professional organization that is recognized for its dedication to helping certified dental care assistants everywhere. They offer a wide range of benefits, such as medical insurance, discounts on travel, discounts on car rentals and much, much more. The membership only costs one hundred and ten dollars and that is for an entire year.
Being a registered dental assistant does not guarantee you a job but it can mean more pay for the jobs that you do get. Do some dentists pay more for that piece of paper? Sure, but that depends on where you are working. The dental assistant salary will differ between a small dental office and a larger, thriving practice. However, some offices will train you and give you the same starting pay, whether or not you are certified and registered.
Assistants needed in the field of dentistry are in top demand. If you are thinking about becoming certified, then you will be practically guaranteed a job no matter where you go. Even if you never take a medical technician training program, you may be able to get a job that offers on the job training. You may even consider going on in your education and becoming a dental hygienist or a dentist. Have you given any thought to becoming an oral surgeon?
Give some thought to being a registered dental assistant with the American Dental Assistants Association. It certainly cannot hurt anything and the benefits are certainly worth the price. If you are registered, then you can apply for the scholarship they offer. It would help to pay for tuition, books and lab fees. That could lead to a higher education and a higher rate of pay.
